GM. Mittag is currently working in the restaurant business as a server in the Pacific Northwest.

She spent most of her life working in restaurants as a server, bartender and caterer; but also did other things besides waiting tables.

Getting a degree in communications, she worked as a video editor, writer and on- air talent while living in Honolulu, Hawaii for ten years.

She met her husband, a chef, and together decided to move back to the Northwest where they raised two children and helped take care of her elderly parents; helping them navigate the rest of their lives.

G.M. Mittag enjoys using her education and years of experience to mentor and teach young workers about the benefits of working in the hospitality field, and how to make great money doing it.

Working in restaurants is a great workout and she relishes the steps she gets in while taking care of her guests, their wants and needs.

Her blogs are meant to be educational, motivational and insightful, and help her readers gain insight into the constantly changing service industry, and its many challenges.

Humor is also something G.M. Mittag adds to her observations helping her poke fun at things that happen in the service industry.

G.M. Mittag is currently editing her book, “Shimmer Island” which she started writing during the pandemic; and is working on a second book on how to make great money in the hospitality field.
